Zain Telecom Sudan opens new office in South Sudan making it third office in the region
2009-02-25 17:42KHARTOUM - Zain Telecom Sudan has expanded operations in Sudan by opening a new regional office in the semi-autonomous region of South Sudan on Wednesday.
The new office, located in Wau city, Bahr El-Ghazal province, is the third in the region after Juba and Malakal offices, director of regional office department of Zain Telecom Sudan Habib Abdulmen'em told KUNA Khartoum.
It will offer integrated services to residents of city and the neighboring areas, Abdulmen'em said.The opening of the office is an important event in the implementation of the company's aggressive strategy for expansion, he affirmed.
The company pays great attention to meeting the growing needs of densely-populated province for integrated communication services.
The inauguration ceremony of the office was attended by Provincial Minister of Infrastructure and acting Minister of Communication Adam Niaro who hailed the achievements of Zain Telecom Sudan in Bahr El-Ghazal province.
Wednesday's event represents honoring of commitment made by the company last year which it pledged to expand the coverage of its network, he recalled. Niaro allocated a plot of land to the company in appreciation of its services of the local community.
The number of subscribers to Zain Telecom Sudan services in Sudan exceeds two million. The company plans to push the figure to seven million in 2009.
Since the start of its operations in Sudan in 2006, Zain Telecom Sudan, a subsidiary of the Multinational Corporation Zain Group (formerly MTC or Mobile Telecommunications Company) channeled USD 3.5 billion of investments to the east African country.
