Salva Kiir visits Malakal to boost peace and development process, denounces tribalism

MALAKAL - The first vice President and the president of the government of southern sudan, in his speech at the opening of the reconciliation conference in Malakal, confirmed commitment of southern sudan government to ensure security and stability in southern states.

He called on people of southern sudan to shake-off tribalism, saying that it is main cause of backwardness of the south.

Kiir also instructed the governors of the ten southern states to implement the developmental and governmental projects in their respective states, alerting them that the current stage requires coordinated work.

The minister of presidential affairs in the Government of Southern Sudan, Dr. Luka Biong said that the president of the government of southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit's visit to Malakal comes in the framework of his tour of situational assessment of the southern states, as well as, promoting efforts of peace and development in the region following the recent incidents.

It is expected that the President of the government of southern sudan will continue his tour to areas of tribal conflict in Jonglei and Upper Nile state, after ending the reconciliation conference in Malakal.
