Darfur region included in Sudan's presidential election

KHARTOUM - A member from the National Electoral Commission, Dr. Mukhtar el Asam, has affirmed that the elections will take place in vast areas of the Darfur region.

Mr. Asam said that the commission has the right to interrupt the elections in some areas if it is convinced that insecurity prevents the electoral procedures, in those areas.

He said that a delegation from the Commission headed Abel Alier will head to Darfur next week to asses the security situation in the region.
