Transforming organisations into being productive, more globally competitive and socially responsible:

MOMBASA - Mombasa is bringing together leaders from Kenya , Nigeria , Botswana , Tanzania , Sudan , Ethiopia , Ghana , Cameroon , Malawi , Namibia , Senegal , and the UK , from March 24 - 27, 2009

All the participants have completed a leadership programme in one of the hub events held earlier in Botswana , Ghana and the UK .

Strategic Leaders Programme is for senior business leaders, bankers and business managers.

The purpose is to strengthen their capacity for transforming organisations into being more productive, more globally competitive and more socially responsible.

The Strategic Leadership Programme is about discovering the leader within you.

It introduces participants to highly effective tools that build self awareness and help leaders release the potential of staff to achieve organisational change.

Over 2,500 people from 19 Sub-Saharan African countries and the UK , have completed this British Council's leadership programme.

They are the evidence that Strategic Leaders Programme changes people and organisations and supports a new generation of leaders, committed to positive change in Africa, and to developing new relationships between Africa and the UK .

All British Council work in leadership is collaboration between Africa and the UK . There is no hierarchy. No them and us. No lecturers, no students. It is an equity process.

Strategic Leaders Programme is part of the British Council's wider commitment to cultural relations.

Cultural relations are, or rather should be, facilitated by the growing interdependence and interconnection of our world.

But too frequently, mistrust and misunderstanding get in the way.

In bringing together African and UK leaders, SLP directly addresses some of these issues, and draws Africa and the UK a little more closely together.

That is the background against which we hope that all who participate in our Strategic Leadership Programme will be helped in finding their voice, and achieving objectives for themselves and for those that they lead.

We welcome expressions of interest to participate from all.

The British Council is the UK 's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.
