KHARTOUM - Al-Mariekh won the football Premier League Championship after beating Al-Hilal in the final in Omdurman on Monday evening.

Al-Mariekh, five-times winner of the competition, ended the tournament with sixty-one points. Semi-finalists Al-Hilal finished the season with fifty-nine points.

Al-Mariekh striker Hitham Tambal opened the score for Al-Mariekh just before half-time. Al-Hilal replied in the 33rd minute of the second half with a goal from Saif Mastawi.

The one-all draw was enough to give Al-Mariekh the championship. Haitham Tambal was man of the match. He scored 21 goals in the tournament.

Next year Al-Mariekh will represent Sudan in the African Premier League Champions’ tournament.
